February 2012 INNOVATORS IN SUSTAINABILITY / Electric Utilities Webinar
FREE ISSP WEBINAR Tuesday February 28, 2012 at 11am PT
Anyone who has seen the movie Erin Brockovich knows that power generation can create externalities. When it's near communities, better stewardship improves human health and community prosperity. Please join Dr. Blair Feltmate on Tuesday, February 28 at 11 a.m. Pacific Time (GMT -8) for a presentation about how utilities are implementing better measurement and management systems to improve outcomes for communities and investors.
The webinar is an introduction to the Innovators in Sustainability project’s electric utilities stream. It will showcase significant progress in creating a useful index and toolkit for the sector. And as part of the multi-phase project, in the coming weeks and months, other webinars will feature an exploration of real progress in additional sectors.
The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) and Vermillion Institute offer this webinar so that practitioners can learn about and contribute to a unique report discussing questions and best practices in the sector. Many contributors will appreciate the association with the report and the project website.
About Dr. Feltmate:
Dr. Feltmate is Senior Advisor (and Past Chair), Sustainable Electricity Program, CEA, Technical Facilitator, Bruce Power-Saugeen Ojibway Nation Whitefish Studies; former Director of Sustainable Development, Ontario Power Generation. About the Innovators in Sustainability project and webinar series:
This interactive webinar will offer ISSP members, and others, a chance to contribute to a unique series of reports that will discuss sector-specific questions and best practices. Our own Ira Feldman was asked to serve as co-Chair of the Innovators in Sustainability organizing committee, where part of his role will be to vet those practitioners who are candidates to be featured by the project. The related ISSP webinars will be open and free to all, but in particular, we hope to attract both corporate leaders and practitioners in various sectors. Come and lend your voice to the project!
Vermillion is a non-partisan policy institute dedicated to advancing three-pillar sustainability through research, multi-stakeholder engagement, and modern communication design. It develops initiatives to improve the conversation and accelerate adoption of what works.
