Sarah Lewis, Ph.D. – The Sustainability Consortium
Dr. Sarah E. Lewis is passionate about identifying and working through challenges at the interface of humans and the environment. A leader in the field of sustainability, Sarah is on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, an author on topics related to ecological integrity and improving supply chain sustainability, and she is a Managing Director with The Sustainability Consortium (TSC). Her work with TSC focuses on organizational strategy, program development, facilitation, business recruitment, and project implementation. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Dynamics, a Master of Arts in French, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and French Secondary Education. An award-winning educator, Sarah is an Adjunct Professor, having taught Environmental Sociology and currently serving on a number of graduate student committees. She is an active and recognized leader in her community. She currently serves as a board member of the Illinois River Watershed Partnership and the Walton Arts Center, and served a 4-year term as an elected official on the Fayetteville, Arkansas City Council.
Rick Ridgeway – Patagonia, Inc.
Rick is Patagonia’s Vice President of Public Engagement and represents and promotes the company’s core values with external stakeholders. In this role he is one of Patagonia’s key spokespersons in all its global markets. During his 12-year tenure at the company he has developed environmental and sustainability initiatives including the Footprint Chronicles and Worn Wear. He also was founding chairman of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, today the largest apparel, footwear and home textile trade organization in the world.
In addition Rick is recognized as one of the world’s foremost mountaineers. With three companions he was the first American to summit K2, considered the hardest of the world’s high-altitude mountain to climb, and he has done other significant climbs and explorations on all continents including the first direct coast-to-coast traverse of Borneo and a traverse of the Tibet’s Chang Tang plateau on a route never explored. His magazine articles have appeared in National Geographic and Harvard Business Review, and he is the author of six books, including Seven Summits, The Shadow of Kilimanjaro and Below Another Sky. National Geographic honored him with its “Lifetime Achievement in Adventure” award. He serves on the boards of Conservacion Patagonica and the Turtle Conservancy, and is on the Advisory Boards of World Wildlife Fund, Unilever USA, and the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
Rick lives with his wife Jennifer in Ojai, California, they have been married for 33 years, and they have three grown children.
Erin Meezan – Interface, Inc.
As Chief Sustainability Officer, Erin gives voice to Interface’s conscience, ensuring that strategy and goals are in sync with its aggressive sustainability vision established more than 20 years ago. Today, Interface has evolved its thinking to go beyond doing less harm to creating positive impacts, not just for Interface and the flooring industry, but for the world at large.
Erin led the company to unveil a new mission in 2016 – Climate Take Back, tackling the single biggest threat facing humanity: global climate change. This mission is focused on creating a path for Interface and others to reverse global warming, not just reduce carbon emissions.
As CSO, Erin leads a global team that provides technical assistance and support to this audacious goal and the company’s global business, addressing sustainability at all levels – from operations and management, to employees and customers, and in policy forums. Erin and her team also develop industry-leading approaches to measurement, driving transparency and innovation in the field of sustainability, while also capturing successes as the company nears its Mission Zero targets in 2020.
Erin is a frequent lecturer on sustainable business to senior management teams, universities and the growing green consumer sector. She has spoken at a variety of conferences and forums including Bioneers, Greenbuild, SXSW, Conscious Capitalism and others, and to business audiences around the world in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States and Europe.
In addition, she participated in forums during the COP21 climate talks in Paris, and has served as a guest faculty member at Harvard University for the Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership program. She also serves on the Sustainable Entrepreneurship MBA (SEMBA) program advisory board for the Vermont Grossman School of Business.
Erin is a magna cum laude graduate of the Vermont Law School, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Studies in Environmental Law and her Juris Doctor degree.
John Tran – Unilever
John is Unilever’s Manager of Sustainable Living, North America. He joined the company in 2015 and is responsible for the shape and implementation of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan and supports the organizations journey towards zero waste to landfill. John also chairs Unilever PRIDE, the company’s business resource group for LGBTQ employees and allies.
Prior to joining Unilever, John held various roles in sustainable sourcing and procurement at Campbell Soup Company based in Camden, New Jersey. There he developed the organization’s first sustainable sourcing strategy to responsibly purchase direct raw materials and packaging.
Before Campbell, John was a Sustainable Operations Engineer at Keystone Foods, a division of the Marfrig Group. Marfrig is one of the world's largest beef, lamb, poultry and fish based food companies with production, commercial, and distribution operations in 12 countries.
John is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives with his partner in New York City.
