Bob Willard is a leading expert on quantifying and selling the business value of corporate sustainability strategies. He has given hundreds of keynote presentations to corporate, government, university, and NGO audiences on the bottom-line benefits of sustainability strategies. Bob applies his business and leadership experience to engage the business community in proactively avoiding risks and capturing opportunities associated with environmental and social issues.   His four books, two DVDs, business case simulator Dashboard and Worksheets, and extensive master Slide Set provide capacity-building resources for sustainability champions. He worked 34 years with IBM Canada, “retiring” in 2000. He serves on the advisory boards of The Natural Step (TNS) Canada and Forum for the Future US; and is on ad hoc advisory committees for sustainable business certificate programs at three Ontario colleges and universities. He was inducted into the International Society of Sustainability Professionals’ Hall of Fame in 2011. He has been named a “Best for the World Overall” B Corp the last three consecutive years, and has a PhD in sustainability from the University of Toronto.

He has authored four books: The Sustainability Advantage (2002), The Next Sustainability Wave (2005), The Sustainability Champion’s Guidebook (2009), and The New Sustainability Advantage (2012). In addition, his two DVDs, business case simulator Dashboard and Worksheets, and extensive master Slide Set provide capacity-building resources for sustainability champions.

Bob serves on the advisory boards of The Natural Step Canada and Forum for the Future US. He is on ad hoc advisory committees for sustainable business certificate programs at Seneca College and Ryerson University, and is on the core faculty of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP). He was an inaugural inductee into the ISSP Hall of Fame in 2011, and has been named to the “Best for the World Overall” list of B Corps the last three consecutive years.  

He has a BSc from McGill University (1964), and an MEd (2000) and PhD (2005) from the University of Toronto. His mission is to ensure his three grandsons’ quality of life is at least as good as he has enjoyed.
