 Bangaly Kourouma, Electric Utility Technology Expert, Joins Governing Board of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP)

Corvallis, Ore.: International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) welcomes Bangaly Kourouma, IT Manager/Network Division at Austin Energy, to its Governing Board.

In addition to my professional insights in the U.S. electric utility industry, being from Cote d'Ivoire and having spent a sizable portion of my life on the African continent, I am able to bring a unique perspective to ISSP’s mission to empower professionals to advance sustainability,” said Kourouma. “Developing economies face an urgency to implement sound policies and practices that leverage the most sustainable technologies in terms of affordability, social equity, and impact to the environment.”

As a trusted technology leader in the electric utility industry, Kourouma leads key deliverables of a multi-year Strategic Infrastructure Transformation Program at Austin Energy and manages the Network Infrastructure/Communications team tasked with enabling and maintaining Austin Energy's corporate network and VOIP infrastructure. With a proven record of building high performing teams focusing on strategies for IT resource allocations, he ensures maximized business value while consistently prioritizing sustainability and carbon footprint reduction.


In his previous role as Information Technology Team Lead at Con Edison Company, one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the U.S., Kourouma furthered the company's strategy regarding the electric grid, the integration of clean energy technology and the impact on operational needs. Kourouma has over 17 years of skilled project management, IT strategy, and hands-on implementation, delivering operational impact across the electric utility, financial, and nonprofit industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York and an Executive Master of Science in Technology Management from Columbia University.
